Easter Celebrations

We started our Easter morning with church services and our church family along with some other special people who were there today: We had some special music in our worship service: After the service, I caught a few pictures of some special people: After the morning service, we were off to spend the afternoon with Uncle D's extended family for Easter lunch:

Then due to the inclement weather, the Easter Egg hunt was held indoors which brought problems of where to hide the eggs:

Then the hunt began:

And then the spoils divided: All in all it was a great day. But the most important thing about Easter was the reflection that Christ gained the victory for us in his resurrection. "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said." Matthew 28:6

Lesson learned from a child

Last week Andy and Ben were hanging with their Poppy. They were thirtsy and Poppy gave them a choice of a bottle of water to quench their thirst. Andy wanted other options but was told his only choice was water. He refused and this is how he was feeling after his refusal:

Ben on the other hand, accepted the bottle of water and went happily along his way:

Andy reconsidered and finally accepted the bottle of water and look what fun the boys had:

This made me think about how I react when God gives me choices and how I react. Sometimes I want things my way and feel like Andy felt (not very happy). When I finally give up my will and accept God's will, I am much happier and life is good. Why do I have to learn this lesson over and over again?

Isn't God good to love us even when we make mistakes and I'm so thankful that he is a God of second chances.

Tuesday Thankfulness

Our memory verse in my pre-school SS class last Sunday was:

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11

I am so thankful for a God that would send his only Son to be my Saviour and for a Saviour who willingly left all the splendour of heaven to come to earth to be born as a baby knowing He was born to die for the sins of the world.

I want to keep my focus not on the hustle and bustle of the season but on Jesus who really is the reason for the season.

Aren't You Glad

Psalm 103
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;.............

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.......

Sunday Blessing

This afternoon, our pastor preached on James: 1:13-18 about temptation. In one of his points he brought out that God does not tempt us because:

1.) God is Holy

2.) God is intrinsically Good

3.) God is Immutable (unchanging)

What a mighty God we serve.

What a Day That Will Be

I'm missing my mom & dad today. It will be five years this coming Thursday that my dad went home to be with the Lord. I know that I'll see him and mom again in heaven because we all have trusted in what Christ did for us on Calvary. That is a hope that I cling to. If you'll indulge me, I want to share the words to a song that has been running through my thoughts today:

What A Day That Will Be
Words and Music: Jim Hill

There is coming a day, When no heart aches shall come, No more clouds in the sky, No more tears to dim the eye, All is peace forever more, On that happy golden shore, What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

There’ll be no sorrow there, No more burdens to bear, No more sickness, no pain, No more parting over there; And forever I will be, With the One who died for me, What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

More promises

Isaiah 43:2

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee: and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned: neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Romans 8:37-39

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thankful Tuesday

During these turbulent times of our economy, we can remember that none of this is taking God by surprise and that He is still on his throne. I also am thankful for His promises that I can claim:

“Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
(Hebrews 13:5)

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." (Psalms 37:25)

Sunday Blessings

This afternoon we had a testimony service at church and several shared how they came to accept the Lord as their personal Savior. It reminded me that the greatest blessing in my life has been that God loved me so much that He gave his only begotten Son that when I believed in him, I would not perish but have everlasting life. The ultimate sacrifice was for me. Thank you Lord!

Thankful Tuesday

I'm thankful for God's sovereignty in every area of our lives. I interviewed for a new position at work yesterday and prayed that God's will would be done in the situation. I know that He loves me and only wants what's best for me. I found out today that someone else got the job and I'm so glad to know that the whole situation was in God's hands. I've been protected from a job that wasn't for me. Knowing God is sovereign sure makes for a GREAT life.
