In their day, my mom and dad used to love to get in their car and just go out on day trips. They visited great places like Graham, Decatur, Jacksboro, Weatherford, Stephenville, and numerous other little towns within an hour, two or three of their home. Well, Uncle D and I are doing the same today except ours will be an overnight trip. If you know Uncle D at all, you know that he loves to take photographs. He has even joined a local camera club in hopes of honing his photography skills. Well our trip today is in search of photo ops for Uncle D. I have a couple of books that I am taking to read while we are stopping along rural roadsides for Uncle D to take pictures. Hopefully, it will be a nice get away for us and you'll see the fruits of Uncle D's efforts later.

Great Weekend
Just a post to document a great weekend which started Friday night with a visit to see baby Brody our newest great nephew. He is precious. Saturday started earlier than I liked but a great day none the less. After a morning of laundry, we headed out for Uncle D to take a team picture of P-Rae's basketball team before their noon game and then we were off to see Deep Sea at the Omni. After the show, we went to a late lunch at Dos Gringos with 13 of our friends. We then headed to the hospital for a little more time with baby Brody. Later a stop at home for a short nap and some facebook action. We then headed to Reagan's basketball game which was a great competition between the teams of two brother in laws, my nephew & nephew in law. It was a great game. Today was church with all its fun and fellowship. We had a visiting preacher who did an awesome job of presenting God's word to us. All in all a great weekend to turn another year older.

Thanks Leann & Brandon
While Leann was doing all the labor last night, it was a great time of family and fun while we waited.
I couldn't hang and left the hospital about 9:00 last night. First thing I did this a.m. was check the blogs to see what had transpired during the night and found that baby Brody was born at 3:26 a.m. This evening after work, Uncle D & I went to meet this young man and found this little cutie:
Thanks for the good times and this precious little one to love.

It's not just me
Today while eating a yummy lunch at Olive Garden with some family members. My older brother brought up the fact that he had read my post about my Power of Observancy one day. The next day he went into his bathroom and noticed that his lovely wife had moved his trash can. He goes to her and in his very loving way asked what she had done with his trash can and she asked him if that was all he noticed. He went back into the bathroom and realized that she had redecorated the entire bathroom in golf paraphernalia for him but all he had noticed was the missing trash can. As he finished this story, his daughter, my niece confessed that she too was not a very observant person. It made me feel so good to know that apparently it is not just me but it must be in my genes.

Those were the days
Thursday at work a friend of mine was cleaning out a filing cabinet and ran across a book that was dated 71-72 which caused us to reminisce about where we were at that time. I was a sophmore and he was graduating from high school. Another co-worker walked in and proceeds to tell us she was in grade school. We told her to go away 'cause she was making us feel old. I started for the company I work for as a high school vocational student and it was really fun to reminisce about the past and all the friends that we have known through the years. My grade school co-worker was saying it was an honor to be so old. I told her I wasn't sure about that but it made me closer to heaven than her. Where were you in 71-72? Some probably weren't even a twinkle in your mother's eye but I can promise you they were good times.
The Power of Observancy
Thursday morning as I was leaving for work, it was dark. I get in my car and look towards our back yard and see a red light in our shed window. It kind of concerned me but I thought that it was probably a reflection so I get out of the car to check it out from far away. No it wasn't a reflection but still appeared to be a red light shining. I get back in the car and head towards work. I get on the cell phone and call Uncle D to report this mysterious light and to ask him to investigate. He wasn't surprised about the light, he told me it was a power strip out in the shed that had been there for months. I questioned that fact because I had never seen it but he assured me that it had been there for months. This story only confirms what Uncle D, my friend Rhonda, I and few of my other friends know and that is that I am not a very observant person. I try to hang out with people who are so that I can be in the know. So, if you get a new hairdo or nose job and I don't notice, please don't be mad at me, I will notice it eventually but usually not right away. That's just who I am.

Football Game, What Football Game?
TNT is featuring a CLOSER marathon which Uncle D & I are watching this evening as we are not NFL football fans. I had a great plan to go grocery shopping after the Super Bowl started because everyone should be watching the game - Right? No, that wasn't the case. I was having to avoid more buggies at Walmart than usual. What's up with that? I thought we would be the only ones not watching. Oh well, I'm home and will be calling it a day earlier than later.
